Originally published in 1924, this is a Jazz Age biography of Shelley and his circle, which almost succeeded in destroying his reputation as a serious writer. It pictures Shelley as an Ariel-figure, a spark arcing between the philosophic Godwin and the diabolic Byron, half man and half meteorite.
