About C. F. Tunnicliffe

Charles Tunnicliffe was born in Langley, Cheshire in 1901. He obtained his diploma for painting from the Royal College of Art in 1921. He was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1944 and elected R.A. in 1954. An exhibition of his bird drawings opened at the Royal Academy in 1974. In the same year he received the Gold Medal of the RSPB, of which he was a vice-president. He received the O.B.E in 1977. Charles Tunnicliffe died in February 1979.
