Trompe l'Oeil Interiors: How to Create Convincing Murals and Painted Illusions by Christopher Westall

This book gives clear, step-by-step instructions for carrying out a range of achievable trompe l'oeil projects in any room of the home. It includes comprehensive advice on basic techniques and elements such as choosing a location and preparing the surface, plus finding inspiration and thinking about your own decorative style. In addition, all the tools and materials you need to paint a decorative mural are illustrated with colour photographs and explanations. Special techniques, such as transferring images, mixing colours and understanding perspective, are explained in an easy-to-understand way. Small, stand-alone projects act as an introduction to basic techniques and key trompe l'oeil elements. Next, the main projects combine several key techniques, starting with simple ones and progressing to more complex styles.
