The China Journal- ..but the diary literary genre that he has elected to use is replete with repetition, at times self - aggrandizing, and often does not offer more than a narrow view of the total picture surrounding Chinese contemporary politics...Sufott could describe what he knew, saw, heard and did, and he does masterfully...Perhaps the time has not yet come, not the appropriate author emerged.
