Proteomics of the Nervous System Summary

Proteomics of the Nervous System by Hans Gerd Nothwang

Covering applications in both biomedical and basic research, this is the first book to combine the cutting-edge technology of proteomics with the highly important field of neuroscience. This ready reference provides the theoretical foundations, protocols for a number of key proteomic techniques, and case studies of the application of proteomics to brain and neural research. Helping lead the fight against the life-threatening and debilitating diseases of the nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Epilepsy and many others, Proteomics of the Nervous Systemis an essential read in this rapidly growing subject.

About Hans Gerd Nothwang

Professor Pfeiffer has been professor in the University of Connecticut since 1969, and has carried out research in many different countries including France, Germany and Japan. He has served as the president of the International Society for Developmental Neurobiology, and as a member of the council of the International Society for Neurochemistry. He is a member of numerous scientific societies, and is on the editorial boards of many journals including the Journal of Neuroscience Research. He is author of over 100 scientific publications. Dr Nothwang carried out his PhD in the Jacque Monod Institute in Paris, France, before carrying out postdoctoral work in Tokushima, Japan, and Freiburg, Germany. Since 2001 he has been working as a research associate in the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, where his work focuses on proteomic analyses of the nervous system.
