The Collins Dictionary of British History is an expanded and updated new edition of A Dictionary of British History (1981, 1988), which was acclaimed by The Times Educational Supplement as an extremely good historical dictionary. It should be a companion for school and college students and teachers, covering the history of Britain from the Roman occupation to the present day, and including over 3000 entries, maps, tables and a chronology from 55 BC. It also covers significant events and personalities of the 1990s, and includes Scottish, Welsh and Irish history.
