This edition continues the tradition of the 1984 edition (a dispassionate appraisal of the facts surrounding the founder of Christianity), but has been updated to encompass the preceding decade's archaeological and scholarly revelations, including a Galilean fishing boat from the first century, the discovery of houses belonging to Jerusalem's priestly aristocracy, and the probable tomb of Caiaphas. The implications of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Magdalene Papyrus are also examined.
