Hal Grant's War by James Elliot
Hal Grant was not to know that the opening shot of the range war was fired when his father, Harry, was bushwhacked in the street. The wealthy ranchers in Lundon County were determined to take the law into their own hands and rid the county of the sharecroppers, nesters and sodbusters eking out an existence in the marginal lands. As inheritor of the richest ranch in the area, Hal should have sided with his fellow ranchers, but his sympathies lay with the underdogs. He did not believe in mob law and vigilante justice. He was caught in the middle, but no one was allowed to sit on the fence in a conflagration that was consuming a county.
