Joanna Lumley feels she may, just possibly, be a budding Girl Friday and fancies her chances of survival on a deserted tropical island. She is not quite the candidate you would expect to volunteer for this rugged, uncomfortable and possibly dangerous mission, but armed with a survival kit, a box of matches, some tins of sardines and only "Hello!" magazine for company, she will set off to discover the delights and dilemmas of life in paradise. "Girl Friday" will relate Joanna's very personal and practical experiences, both before and during her time on the island, and she will share her thoughts, emotions and sketches from this unusual trip. From training for survival with the SAS, through the crucial decisions about what to pack (chocolate or moisturiser?), to missing the luxury of a bathroom, she will most certainly be put through her paces. "Girl Friday" will reveal not only how enterprising, courageous and determined Joanna can be, but also what an amusing person she is as she learns to find water, build shelter, fish and cook al fresco, and overcome the feelings of solitude, with only herself to rely on.
