Inquests Summary

Inquests by John Cooper

The last year has seen the largest and most comprehensive reform of Coronial Law since the early nineteenth century. The new Coroners and Justice Act 2009 impacts upon every aspect of the Inquest and this comprehensive new work lays out both the substantive law and new procedure following the recent legislation and authorities. The whole coronial process is laid out in distinct chapters which consider the present and developing law. The book provides practical guidance from the beginning to the end of the process and includes a special chapter on Military inquests, creating an invaluable reference for both the practitioner and student of this fast developing area of law.

Inquests Reviews

This new volume compresses the law relating to Inquests into manageable proportions, and is written in crisp and readily understood language. It will be of great assistance to all those who work in or have an interest in this sensitive area of the legal system. -- From the Foreword by Igor Judge
... very useful, instructive and full of gems...a very valuable book on a topic, which is not written about enough. It has an index and another detailed index and the table of cases is most impressive, being international, substantial and up-to-date. There is also a table on international statutes and a table of Civil Procedure Rules, Coroners Rules and Criminal Procedure Rules and a comprehensive index. The splendid thing about this book is that it can be relied upon, as vouched for by the foreword wrirrten by Sir Igor Judge, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. The Internet cannot be relied on, especially as writings are often not updated, but in this little volume is a comprehensive and thoroughly recommended handbook on Coroners Courts. -- Sally Ramage * The Criminal Lawyer *
