Speaking and Listening is being published to coincide with the Government's relaunch of its Speaking and Listening guidelines. Next year will see a renewed focus on this important subject and teachers will be looking for materials to help them deliver the objectives. Speaking and Listening provides activities that take the children's curriculum knowledge and encourages purposeful talk through discussions, presentations, group decisions and drama. Each book in the series provides: activities that cover group discussion, listening, presentations and drama-the four areas that the government has highlighted, over 30 speaking and listening lessons that use subject matter from English, Science, Geography and History curricula, photocopiable pages, key skills and techniques described, and assessment advice. Speaking and Listening Ages 5-7 provides speaking and listening activities based on: Toys in the past, What we need to grow, Local study, Safe to school, Seaside holidays now and in the past, Light and dark, Six Dinner Sid, and My island home.
