A Dream of Passion: The Development of the Method by Lee Strasberg
Lee Strasberg was one of the major figures in 20th century theatre - Artistic Director of the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the Actors Studio, teacher of some of the world's finest actors and an actor in his own right (he appeared in "Godfather II"). His greatest work was his contribution to the theory and practice of acting. Now, in this posthumously published legacy to the theatre, Strasberg, for the first time in print, explains the art of acting as he came to understand it. Beginning with his own early experiences and his discovery of the actor's central problem - achieving consistency of inspiration - Strasberg analyzes the work of the great Russian director and actor Constantin Stanislavsky and shows how he, Strasberg, and others added to that work to develop the system known as the Method. This is a book which should be of interest to both actors and anyone interested in art and creativity.
