Joey Dunlop Summary

Joey Dunlop: His Authorised Diography by Mac McDiarmid

When Joey Dunlop, undisputed master of the Isle of Man TT, was killed in July 2000 he was awarded what amounted to an Irish state funeral, uniting a troubled country in grief. The service, attended by cabinet ministers and no less than 50,000 well-wishers, was broadcast live on national television - for the mourning motorcycle road race fans the modest Ulsterman was akin to royalty. This official commemorative biography - written in association with the Dunlop family and Honda UK - will be launched at the 2001 TT week in the Isle of Man, where Dunlop won a record 26 times.

About Mac McDiarmid

Mac McDiarmid, who witnessed Dunlop's first Isle of Man win in 1977, is a former TT racer himself. He has written nine marque histories, and is the TT correspondent for Motocourse. He lives in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.
