Summary

Leaving behind the security of a normal life is easier than you think, helped by the gravitational force of romance and adventure. Mari Rhydwen and her husband packed up their lives, bought a yacht and sailed the Indian Ocean for three years, setting out with no real experience in sailing.

Slow Travel Summary

Slow Travel by Mari Rhydwen

Fascinated by biological and cultural diversity and disappointed by her grownup daughters' reluctance to live out her adventure fantasies, Mari Rhydwen decided to have the adventures herself. With her husband, she sold up, packed up their lives, bought a yacht (having never sailed before) and set sail across the Indian Ocean. Capturing the romance and excitement of leaving all that is familiar behind, while learning to become self-sufficient on her tiny floating home, Mari sets out on the journey of a lifetime - witnessing tremendous poverty and riches, beauty and corruption, and cruelty and kindness in the most unexpected places. Warm, engaging and wonderfully told, Slow Travel is about dreaming of an extraordinary adventure...and doing it.
