Surgery of the Anus, Rectum and Colon, 2- Volume Set Reviews

The third edition has undergone more extensive revision with the refinement and incorporation of chapters to reduce any duplication. There are some new chapters such as that on screening for colorectal cancer. Seeing the third edition is like meeting a long lost friend again - a most rewarding and enjoyable experience. I cannot recommend this text highly enough. The authors suggest that in future it may be published online with more proactive editing to keep it at the cutting edge. A must have! Colorectal Disease - March 2008 REVIEW OF LAST EDITION: For colon and rectum surgeons, it will become a classic surpassing in depth, breadth, and style all other currently available textbooks. Although the facts may slowly change with the advance of science, the wisdom and experience captured here will keep me returning to this book for counsel for many years to come. -- NEJM Inevitably such a large text will be perceived as a reference book, but realistically these volumes are a must for every practicing coloproctologist. -- British Journal of Surgery BMA Book Awards 2008 - Highly Commended It remains the authoritative text on colorectal diseases: the material is new and not just a simple update of the previous edition. The book production generally good, but I expected colour illustrations and photos, and colour coding for titles and tables etc to make them more readable. Moreover, in this day and age, I expected a CDROM with the book, containing those photos which did not make the book. This notwithstanding, however, every GI surgeon must have this set of books in their collection.
