This collection of poetry contains an extended poem sequence which cumulatively amounts to an essay in autobiography. Schmidt provides a series of pen-portraits of people who have influenced him - entrepreneurs, scholars, left-wing intellectuals - in places as far apart as Mexico and Oxford. As well as poetry, Michael Schmidt has written the novels The Colonist and The Dresden Gate.
