I am delighted that a second edition of this book has been produced. It combines the practical aspects of entrepreneurship with Academic insights and recent theoretical developments. The new venture creation process is well supported thanks to the Framework, practical exercises and case illustrations. Another gem from Paul Burns! * Margaret Fletcher, Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, UK *
If you are looking for a proficiently composed and carefully narrated book on entrepreneurial start-ups that beautifully balances historical insights with present-day case stories, creativity with planning, and research with a hands-on, how-to guide, this is it. Paul Burns efficiently covers all the parts of the venture creation process without resorting to shortcuts. As a reader you are continuously learning, which only goes to prove that this tour de force has emerged from that rare asset we call expertise. * Daniel Hjorth, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark *
New Venture Creation provides a holistic approach to start-ups and covers ALL the topics in detail. The impressive layout makes it easy to read, easy to follow, and easy to understand, but more importantly the Case insights from different countries make it applicable worldwide. Suitable for a diverse audience, from the graduate who wants to start a business to the skilled craftsman with limited formal education, I would highly recommend this book. * Iegshaan Ariefdien, Chief Operating Officer, Furntech, South Africa *
This well-written and easy-to-understand book does not just teach students about the subject but prepares them for their own new venture. The Workbook exercises at the end of each chapter are indispensable tools for revising important aspects - the 'know how', the 'know who' and the 'need to know' of establishing and developing new ventures. * Muhammad Azam Roomi, Prince Mohammad Bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia *
