Maternity builds a barrier that no man can cross, and perhaps because of this the family tree of women has remained curiously undefined and the mother/daughter relatinship little explored in history, art and literature. This book attempts to correct this by examining the relationship between three generations - daughter, mother, grandmother - showing the unique bond that links them.
