This collection of prayers is categorized by author, chronologically, with 2000 prayers in total. The heading of each author is accompanied by a short biographical introduction, so that the reader can choose to pray "with" an individual. Anonymous prayers are dated where possible and inserted at the appropriate chronological point. An index with many cross-references helps the reader who seeks advice and links prayers with the seasons and saints' days of the Christian year. The book draws only on the Christian tradition. Robert Van de Weyer is a priest of the Church of England and pastor of the Community of Christ the Sower at Little Gidding, near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. He is the winner of the Winifred Mary Stanford Prize.
