Summary
Natalie, a young English teacher, joins the queues for food and tries to adjust to a strange new place, post-communist St Petersburg. Gradually she becomes involved with Pyotr, who has strong links with the city's drug-running Mafiosi, and Natalie realizes she is well out of her depth.

About Sophia Creswell
Born in Paris in 1969, Sophia Creswell graduated from Durham University in 1991. She spent the next year in St. Petersburg, teaching English as a foreign language and then working for an art publisher. She has travelled widely throughout the Far East and Southern Africa, and has recently worked for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.
