He wrote An Elementary Treatise on Determinants, Symbolic Logic, and other scientific treatises under his own name. Lewis Carroll, his pen name, is more well-known. He wrote Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass under this identity.
He was also a pioneering photographer who photographed many young children, particularly females, with whom he appeared to empathize. On January 14, 1898, he passed away.
