3: Thora and the Incredible Crystals by Gillian Johnson

Thora - half-mermaid, half-human - is off to the farthest faraway place on earth: Flinders Island. Flinders is the home of Cosmo, Thora's pet peacock. But when they find the wildlife sanctuary where he was born, all the peacocks have disappeared! Thora is suspicious. And when she gets a job helping out with Felicity, whose parents run a rubber dinosaur factory, the questions pile up. This is the most important voyage of Thora's life: a journey that features magical crystals and squidgy dinosaurs - and leads her to the biggest mystery of all ...

This is a book full of fun' Sunday Times Children's Book of the Week Thora is an irresistible new character ... storytelling at its best. Starred review, Publishing News An attractively illustrated and uplifting story TES Great fun! The Funday Times Thora is an endearing character ... the author's own line drawings add to the appeal of a lively story, which should appeal to KS2 children. The School Librarian Thora is a thoroughly modern heroine in a fantasy adventure story with a pleasantly old-fashioned feel to it ... Gillian Johnson's own illustrations add to the book's charm. Books for Keeps Wonderfully inventive and witty - the sort of book that gladdens the heart Children's Bookseller and Publisher, Australia
