Compares the experiences of soldiers in the Vietnam war with those in the Trojan War, and examines how the stresses of combat affect the individual soldier.Jonathan Shay, M.D., Ph.D., is a staff psychiatrist at the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic. His patients are Vietnam combat veterans suffering from severe, long-term PTSD. Visiting scholar-at-large at the American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Shay graduated from the Naval War College in 2001 and has given numerous talks at the invitation of the United States government. Military services, universities, and institutions are all examples of this. He currently resides in the Boston region.
