Advanced Quantum Mechanics by J J Sakurai

The eleventh printing of this renowned book confirms its status as a classic. The book presents major advances in fundamentals of quantum physics from 1927 to the present. No familiarity with relativistic quantum mechanics or quantum field theory is presupposed; however, the reader is assumed to be familiar with non-relativistic quantum mechanics, classical electrodynamics, and classical mechanics. The author's clear presentation focuses on key concepts, particularly experimental work in the field.

J.J. Sakura was a well-known particle physicist who taught at UCLA (1970-1982) and the University of Chicago (1964-1970). His Ph.D. was awarded to him. In 1958, he graduated from Cornell University in New York. He made significant contributions to particle physics before his prematurely in 1982, while visiting CERN in Geneva, at the age of 49. He'd also worked as a visiting scientist at the California Institute of Technology, the Universities of Tokyo and Nagoya, the University of Paris d'Orsay, the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the Stanford Linear Accelerator, CERN in Geneva, and the Max Planck Institute in Munich. He was a Sloan Fellow from 1962 to 1966, an American Physical Society Fellow from 1964 to 1982, a Guggenheim Fellow from 1975 to 1976, and a von Humboldt Fellow from 1981 to 1982.
