Aesthetics and Painting by Jason Gaiger
Looks at the debates and ideas involved in the aesthetics of painting. This book focuses on the investigation of the complex relationship between what a painting depicts and the means by which it is depicted. It also looks at how and why pictorial representation can be distinguished from other forms of representation.
"This book shines a much needed clear, intelligent light on the central questions of the meaning and value of painting, proving that philosophy and art can know and illuminate one another" - John Armstrong, Melbourne University, Australia
