Alexander the Great by Nikos Kazantzakis

Opens with Alexander's first exploit, the taming of the horse, Bucephalas, and is seen in great part through the eyes of his young neighbor who eventually becomes an officer in his army and follows him on his campaign to conquer the world.

Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957), world-renowned Greek literary figure and nine-time Nobel Prize in Literature nominee, wrote masterpieces including Zorba the Greek and The Last Temptation of Christ. His novels, philosophical works, and monumental 33,333-line epic retelling of Homer's Odyssey have captivated audiences worldwide and topped US bestseller lists.

Theodora Vasils has translated several works by Nikos Kazantzakis. Among her other translated works are short stories published in various literary journals, and a book of poetry, In Another Light, by Koralia Theotokas.
