Alexander the Great (Revised Edition) (a Wicked History) by Doug Wilhelm
He became king of Macedonia at age 20 - but no kingdom could contain the ambition of Alexander the Great. The wicked ways of some of the most ruthless rulers to walk the earth are revealed in these thrilling biographies (A Wicked History) about men and women so monstrous, they make Frankenstein look like a sweetheart. He would carve a 12,000-mile path across Asia, defeating princes, satraps, and kings. Alexander, it was said, was the son of a god. He could not be defeated in battle. And he was destined to rule the world.Doug Wilhelm has written several books for children and young adults, including The Revealers, which has been embraced by educators as a unique way to discuss school bullying. Born in Oregon and raised in suburban New Jersey, he studied English at Kenyon College in Ohio, then went to work as a newspaper reporter. In 1981, he left his job and traveled to Asia, where he spent two years and became a freelance writer, editor, and teacher of English in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has worked as a journalist for The Boston Globe and once wrote the words for Ben & Jerry's ice cream containers, a job that involved getting paid to eat ice cream.
He started writing for young people with a science fiction novel for the Choose Your Own Adventure series. He found he loved writing for young adults, and he's been doing it ever since. Wilhelm often visits schools to talk about The Revealers and the issues it raises. He is six feet, ten inches tall, and lives in Rutland, Vermont.
