All About Mia by Lisa Williamson

One family, three sisters. GRACE, the oldest: straight-A student. AUDREY, the youngest: future Olympic swimming champion. And MIA, the mess in the middle. Mia is wild and daring, great with hair and selfies, and the undisputed leader of her friends - not attributes appreciated by her parents or teachers. When Grace makes a shock announcement, Mia hopes that her now-not-so-perfect sister will get into the trouble she deserves. But instead, it is Mia whose life spirals out of control - boozing, boys and bad behaviour - and she starts to realise that her attempts to make it All About Mia might put at risk the very things she loves the most.
An absorbing, hilarious investigation of sibling dynamics. . witty and touching * Guardian *
Never deviating from Mia's voice, Williamson skillfully shows that her sarcasm and self-centredness are not so much marks of confidence as insecurity . . . this zingy rites of passage novel is filled with warmth and insight * Financial Times *
An authentic, compelling and relatable read about a girl who's never felt quite good enough * Irish Times *
Mia is a chaotic, charming character and one of the most irresistible teenage voices I've read in a long time * Fiona Noble, The Bookseller *
Lisa Williamson was born and grew up in Nottingham. Following a degree in drama, she worked as an actor for over a decade before writing her debut novel, The Art of Being Normal. Lisa loves writing about characters who are different from her and Mia Campbell-Richardson definitely fits the bill. She's everything Lisa wasn't at 16 - loud, daring and uber confident. With no idea what's she's doing or where she's heading, she's the sort of girl who doesn't usually get to be at the centre of the story. This is exactly why Lisa wanted to take the time to get to know her and figure out what's really going on behind the big hair and fiery attitude. Lisa is also the author of Paper Avalanche, First Day of My Life, First Names: Malala (Yousafzai) and co-author of the collaborative YA novel Floored. When she's not writing, Lisa likes long walks, long talks, dessert of all kinds, good books and bad TV. She lives in London.
