The sixth President of the United States was John Quincy Adams. Charles Francis Adams, the son of John Quincy Adams, was a statesman and diplomat who served from 1825 until 1829. During the American Civil War, he served as the US Ambassador to Britain under Abraham Lincoln. He rose to prominence as one of the most illustrious historical editors of his time.William J. Cooper, Jr. is Louisiana State University's Boyd Professor Emeritus of History. The Lost Founding Father: John Quincy Adams and the Evolution of American Politics (2017) is one of his most recent books.
