Annuals for Instant Colour by Richard Bird
This is an introduction to the many uses of these plants. It covers the basics of preparing your beds, sowing seeds, planting out and maintenance before proceeding to explain how to get the very best effects in different garden locations from the wide selection of annuals available. As the title suggests, the book focuses on how to make the most of the array of colours found in annuals, both in their flowers and foliage. It explains the different effects that can be created simply by choosing hot colours such as red or orange, romantic blues or cold creams.
Richard Bird has been gardening since childhood and currently maintains a large garden where his abiding passion for plants is very evident. He has contributed to numerous publications and has been magazine editor for Focus on Plants, The Hardy Plant, Alpine Gardening and the Alpine Garden Society's magazine, Bulletin. He is also a full-time author on gardens and plants and has written nearly 30 books on a wide range of subjects including Annuals, Sensational Shrubs and Glorious Climbers.
