The Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves by J H Silverman
Treats the arithmetic theory of elliptic curves in its modern formulation through the use of basic algebraic number theory and algebraic geometry. This book outlines necessary algebro-geometric results and offers an exposition of the geometry of elliptic curves, the formal group of an elliptic curve, and elliptic curves over finite fields.Dr. Joseph Silverman is a professor at Brown University, where he has been teaching since 1982. From 2001 to 2004, he was the Chair of the Brown Mathematics Department. He has been the recipient of various fellowships, grants, and prizes, as well as being a regular lecturer. He is currently a member of the American Mathematical Society's Council. Number theory, arithmetic geometry, elliptic curves, dynamical systems, and cryptography are among his research interests.
He has over 120 papers to his credit and has supervised over 20 PhD candidates. He has produced nine highly successful books with Springer, including An Introduction to Mathematical Cryptography for Undergraduate Texts in Mathematics, which was just launched.
