Marilyn Stokstad is the Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor of Art History at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art's consultant curator of medieval art. She is the author of the textbook Art History, which was published in 1995. A half-dozen books, several book chapters, reviews and museum publications, as well as a vast list of essays for periodicals, make up her scholarly work. She has also worked as an editorial consultant for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the St. Louis Art Museum. The World Book Encyclopedia, as well as several prominent book publishers, are all located in St. Louis.
