Atmospheres by Peter Zumthor

Peter Zumthor's passion is the creation of buildings with architectural atmosphere. But how can one actually set out to achieve it? In nine short, illustrated chapters framed as a process of self-observation, Zumthor describes what he has on his mind as he sets about creating the atmosphere of his houses.

In the alpine environment of Haldenstein, Switzerland, Peter Zumthor works with his Atelier of roughly thirty employees to create architectural originals such as Kunsthaus Bregenz, Therme Vals, Museum Kolumba Köln, the Steilneset Monument in Vard, and, most recently, the new building for the Los Angeles Museum of Art (LACMA).
