This student book is part of a five-year German course for the National Curriculum which has been designed specifically for pupils taking German as a first foreign language from year 7. It also provides an alternative "fast route" through the materials for those starting German in year 8. At this fourth stage the needs of a wider ability range are catered for by the provision of two parallel sections. "Rot" covers GCSE grades A* to C and "Gruen" covers GCSE grades C to G. The overlap between the books enables the students following the lower book to have the opportunity to reach grade C. This student book builds on Key Stage 3 work by providing structured units designed to develop higher-level skills. Extension units are included to stretch the most able students.
