In the year 1879, Petersburg was founded. In 1897, she received her diploma from the Imperial Ballet School and joined the Maryinsky Theater Ballet. In 1905, she was elevated to soloist, and in 1915, she was promoted to Prima Ballerina. In 1921, she began teaching at Leningrad's State Theater School, and in 1922, she joined the State Theater Ballet (later known as the Kirov Ballet).
From 1931 to 1937, she was Director of that company, and from 1934 to 1941, she was Director of the State School's instruction department. In 1951, she died in her hometown.
