Sergei Eisenstein (1898-1948), known as the Father of Montage, was a pioneering Soviet Russian cinema director and film theorist. His silent flicks Battleship Potemkin, October, and Strike, as well as the historical epics Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible I and II, are all well-known.
