Beach Boy by Ardashir Vakil
A bitter-sweet funny novel about a movie-mad boy growing up in Bombay, discovering girls, food and of course the cinema - all the time under the watchful eye of his outrageously demanding mother. His idyllic world is brought to a sudden end by the death of his father - and his mother's new relationship.
Ardashir Vakil was brought up in Bombay and educated at Oxford. He teaches English at Pimlico Comprehensive School, and lives in Chelsea. This is his first novel.
