Bears in the Forest by Karen Wallace

Welcome to the wonderful world of bears, told through story and song with Stephen Tompkinson. Deep in a forest cave, a mother bear gives birth to two tiny cubs. As they grow, she teaches them how to climb and fish, and all the things they need to know to survive in the wild. For one day, during the second summer, they will leave her to find homes of their own. In the accompanying CD (approx.15 minutes), actor Stephen Tompkinson explores the wonderful world of bears through information, music and story.
Wallace follows a black bear mother and two cubs from the cubs' birth through their second summer. . The book [conveys] a sense of bears' annual patterns and their protective mothering. * Booklist *
