Based on previously unpublished documents, this book traces the life in Paris of Countess Olga von Hohenfelsen, later known as Princess Paley, the morganatic wife of Grand Duke Paul of Russia, uncle of the last emperor, Nicholas II.Wilfried Zeisler holds a PhD in art history and is deputy director and chief curator at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, Washington, DC. His work focuses on the history of taste, collections, and the decorative arts. He is the author, among other publications, of L'Objet d'art et de luxe francais en Russie (1881-1917) (2014) and Les Youssoupoff-Un siecle de Collections francaises (2023).
Megan J. Martinelli holds a master of science degree in historic textiles and costume from the University of Rhode Island and is the curator of Textiles, Apparel, Jewelry, and Accessories at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, Washington DC. Her work focuses on identity and expression through fashion and adornment. Megan recently contributed to Hillwood's publication, The Joy of It: The Houses and Collections of Marjorie Merriweather Post (2022).
