Beth Chatto owns and operates an Rare Plants Garden and Nursery in Elmstead Market, Essex. She has 10 gold medals from Chelsea, as well as the Victoria Medal of Honour from the Royal Horticultural Society and an honorary doctorate from Essex University for her contributions to horticulture. She is the author of a number of gardening classics, as well as the co-author of Dear Friend and Gardener, which she co-wrote with Christopher Lloyd, a long-time friend and fellow gardener.
