Iain Dale is Britain's leading political blogger. He is a political commentator for the BBC and Sky and presents a daily political chat show on the internet TV station 18 Doughty Street.com. He has a fortnightly column in the Daily Telegraph and is a former Conservative Party candidate. He acquired an interest in politics as a libertarian in the 1980s and then spent several years in finance. In 2005, his blog was voted the best in the Political Commentary category of The Backbencher Political Weblog Awards, run by The Guardian. He was also named at number 36 in the "Top 50 newsmakers of 2006" in The Independent. He is married with one daughter.
