Biochemistry Laboratory by Rodney Boyer
Your biochemistry lab course is an essential component in training for a career in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, and related molecular life sciences such as cell biology, neurosciences, and genetics. Biochemistry Laboratory: Modern Theory and Techniques covers the theories, techniques, and methodologies practiced in the biochemistry teaching and research lab. Instead of specific experiments, it focuses on detailed descriptions of modern techniques in experimental biochemistry and discusses the theory behind such techniques in detail. An extensive range of techniques discussed includes Internet databases, chromatography, spectroscopy, and recombinant DNA techniques such as molecular cloning and PCR. The Second Edition introduces cutting-edge topics such as membrane-based chromatography, adds new exercises and problems throughout, and offers a completely updated Companion Website.Rodney F. Boyer is Professor of Chemistry at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He received his B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Westmar College, his M.S. in Organic Chemistry and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry from Colorado State University. Boyer was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan Medical School in the Department of Biological Chemistry. He has served as an American Cancer Society Scholar and Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Boyer is a member of professional organizations including the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the American Chemical Society and the Council on Undergraduate Research. He has directed numerous research and department grants and has authored a number of journal articles and book reviews.
