A Birder's Guide to Southeastern Arizona by Richard Cachor Taylor

Southeastern Arizona is one of the most exciting regions for birding in North America. More than 400 species occur here annually, and 514 species have been recorded. That is more kinds of birds than any other landbounded area of comparable size in the United States. In fact, only Texas, California, and Florida have state lists that exceed the total list for the 15,000-square-mile area encompassed by Southeastern Arizona. Of these birds, 36 species are not regular anywhere else in the U.S., and another 40-plus are confined to the zone along the U.S. border with Mexico.
