The Blood and the Shroud by Ian Wilson
"The Turin Shroud Revealed" is completely devoted to interpreting the Shroud anew in the light of the carbon dating process carried out in 1988. It pain- stakingly shows that carbon dating has resolved nothing of the mystery; that allthe indications are that the Shroud's body image is photographic in character, that the Shroud's "blood" includes DNA, and that something corresponding to the Shroud's description was extant at least as early as the 6th century. The book tries to embrace every aspect of the subject; photographic, medical, scientific and historic, and attempts to encompass fairly and objectively all currently known arguments for and against the Shroud's authenticity.
Ian Wilson was born in London in 1941 and educated at Emanuel School, Wandsworth, and Magdalene College, Oxford, where he graduated in History in 1963. His previous books include The Turin Shroud, which became a worldwide bestseller when published in 1978 and Jesus: The Evidence (1984), a companion to the major three-part TV series of the same name and another bestseller. The Bloodand the Shroud was published in 1998. His biography of Shakespeare, Shakespeare: The Evidence was published in 1993 and The Bible is History in 1999. All
