Bodies of Sound by Sarah Shin

Bodies of Sound began by enquiring into how sonic experience is intervening in realms such as gender, memory, disability justice, anti-colonial ways of knowing, and anti-war movements - responding to our contemporary emergencies. What has emerged is a collection that makes an expansive case for listening for peace,

Featuring over thirty contributors, this groundbreaking anthology explores sound and listening through the lens of the body. Bringing together poets, artists, writers and musicians including Anne Carson, Svetlana Alexievich, Sara Ahmed, Pauline Oliveros and Don Mee Choi, Bodies of Sounds maps the intricate links between feminist sonic culture and radical listening.

Irene Revell is a curator and writer who works with artists across sound, text, performance and moving image.

Sarah Shin is a writer, editor, publisher, researcher and curator. She is a founder and director of Ignota, a creative publishing and curatorial house; Silver Press, the feminist publisher; New Suns, a literary festival at the Barbican Centre; and Standard Deviation, a collective exploring the coincidence of psychic, geometric and inhabited spaces.
