Bomber County by Daniel Swift
In early June 1943, James Eric Swift, a pilot with 83 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, boarded his Lancaster bomber for a night raid on Munster and disappeared. This title tells about the author's search for his lost grandfather James. It also examines the relationship between the bombing campaigns of the Second World War and poetry.
Daniel Swift was born in 1977. His essays, profiles and reviews have appeared in the Financial Times magazine, the New York Times Book Review and the Daily Telegraph, and he teaches in the Department of English Literature at Skidmore College in upstate New York. This is his first book.
