Bosie by Douglas Murray

In this fascinating biography, Douglas Murray explores fully, for the first time, the mass of contradictions that made up the life of Bosie, a genius yet a failure through his tormented youth, the trials of Oscar Wilde, marriage, his own imprisonment (for libelling Churchill), bankruptcy, and growing faith before his death in 1945. With new material and fresh insight, Bosie; the third son of the Marquess of Queensbury, and a member of one of the noblest houses of Scotland is here seen as a significant poet whose tragedy extended far beyond his lovers death a century ago, into a world which could never forgive or forget him.
'One of the most impressive biographical debuts for some time..It comes across as entirely fresh' Humphrey Carpenter - - Sunday Times

Murray's book does a fine job of putting an irksome and faded legendary boy to bed. - Observer

A precocious feat by almost any standards...An excellent piece of work, intelligent and well-rounded - Sunday Telegraph

He has done a good job in evoking a life which, as Wilde once put it, "seems to be tragic and pathetic in its foolish aimlessness"' - Express

Douglas Murray is a remarkable young writer with a confident style - Sunday Telegraph
