Focusing on the period 1945-1996, this work examines Britain's domestic policy and politics and also gives weight to external and international relations. David Childs is Professor of Politics at Nottingham University in England, and the author of 15 books on Germany, including Germany on the Road to Unity and Germany Since 1918. He predicted the demise of the East German regime in 1988 and was himself spied upon by the Stasi in Britain and in Germany. Richard Popplewell is Lecturer in Politics at the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, and was previously Bradley Fellow at Georgetown University.
