British Watercolours by Charles Nugent
The Whitworth Gallery, founded in 1889, holds one of the finest collections of British watercolours and drawings. This catalogue contains this group of works in its entirety and provides an insight into the Whitworth collection. Over 2500 works by over 500 artists are included, 2000 of which are illustrated in monochrome and 32 in colour. After graduating from Keble College, Oxford, in 1984, Charles Nugent worked in the watercolour department at Christie's, London. In 1991 he was appointed Curator (Drawings and Watercolours) at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, where he is responsible for the welfare of some 3,000 drawings and watercolours.
