Broderie Anglaise by Violet Trefusis

Broderie Anglaise presents, in fictional form, the key event of Violet Trefusis' youth: her love affair with Vita. - Sacville-West
Violet Trefusis (1894-1972) was the daughter of Edward VII's mistress, Alice Keppel. She spent much of her childhood and adolescence abroad. In 1904 she met Vita Sackville-West and in 1918 the two women became lovers. Violet's marriage to Denys Trefusis in 1919 did not end their involvement and the affair continued until 1921. Violet and Denys moved to France and in 1929 he died. The same year her first book was published. Violet lived in France and in Florence for the rest of her life apart from the war years, which she spent in England. She published books in French and English; her works include Hunt the Slipper (1937), Prelude to Misadventure (1942) and Don't Look Round (1952).
